500 years of Reformation and it is time for a change

Today is October 31, 2017. 500 years since Luther became one of many catalysts of the Reformation. So many things have changed including the reasons for the 95 thesis. Many of his points are no longer points of contention.

What can be contended is the fighting that took place in the name of Christ and the sides that were drawn because all were claiming to be on Christ’s side. This has been just as much spiritual battle as it is a verbal battle and we need to choose to end the war and stop fanning the wrong flame.

I pray that the next 500 years will begin with a new reformation of the Church of Christ uniting. When this happens the Lord's prayer is fulfilled and His kingdom has come and His will is done on earth as is has always been in Heaven. When heaven and earth collide there is a spiritual awakening in our hearts as we unite with purpose.

God of Many names you are our sustainer and giver of life. Let us reflect this life in our neighborhoods, community and nation as we go to make disciples for your family. We declare this day that we will strive to be one, united with purpose to make your Great Name know to our generation as the God who can do all things and bring unity to your family.

One year later the honeymoon isn’t over

One year later the honeymoon isn’t over. I have seen heaven come to earth and I have seen Habakkuk 3:2 in my day. Lord, I have seen of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Thank you for repeating them in our day, in our time you have made them known; in wrath remember mercy.

The bride of Christ is looking more beautiful as each day passes. Miracles are a revealing of how God is showing up in our lives. The bushels are being broken and the light is flooding into the dark places of the heart and the world.

Not only do I see heaven coming to earth, but my children see this as normal. It thrills my soul to see all God is doing. It thrills my soul for my children to see miracles as normal and expect more radical miracles to happen. It thrills me to see the church is alive, brighter and flowing into what once was darkness. The part, if there could be one part, which thrills me the most is seeing this happening all over our city in many places by many people from many churches. United as the church of Christ. Many churches are working together to come up with a way to serve our city together! Praying for revival in our hearts and in the awaking of our land!

Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

Thank you for blowing the winds of change

Greetings from the Church in Franklin TN to Northridge Church in Michigan

We are growing and God is blessing us immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. Over 13 years ago I took that verse to mind as Bell Creek Church in Livonia MI was forming and I still bring it to mind regularly as I look around at all which God brings to us and our city. I laugh at the similarities of what we were a part of here in our current city and what we are becoming. God is in the details and I am in awe of how He allows me to see glimpses of His big picture.

By taking the time to reflect on my past I am able to see God weave into my life everyday miracles. Some as big as the stars and some as small as a mustard seed. By taking the time to look and in stillness pause I can see the tapestry of life they are creating. I can see the details of how a mustard seed is just as meaningful as a star and how they are a beautiful picture of lives connected and one.

I want to encourage you as part of the church you are part of something that is significant. You move and the winds of Gods change in your city and they may only seem like the momentum of a flapping butterfly wing. Butterfly wings are powerful because your sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state... Simply put a flapping butterfly wing can create a hurricane on the other side of the world one day or in you city in another. I pray that you have the privileged of seeing your city changed in your day and that God's deeds are made know to your city.

Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

In Augusts of 2013 our family started attending small church plant in Franklin, TN called Church of the City. When we began there were about 250 attendance over 2 campuses. In Mid May of 2015 our church attendance was about 700 between 2 campuses which had 3 services at rented facilities. Beginning in July that church plant most likely had over 3000 attend 9 weekend services at 3 campuses. As of November 2015 we have 2 campuses in permanent facilities and we continue to rapidly grow.

In March of 2015 our church was asked if we would prayerfully consider to let another church join us. It was a 180 year old "mega" church that was well established and well populated. Over the next few months we all agreed to fuse churches and now we have become one Church of the City. NorthRidge Church in Michigan, is a big part in our blessing and miracle of our church story. Thank you for attending a church who encourages other churches to attain God's miracles. You and your church will be blessed through your actions. What is happening here in Tennessee is amazing, exciting, and miraculous. Amazing that we are part of the the bride of Christ coming together in unity when we were both growing churches that weren't dead and withered. Exciting because God is doing great things and we, in obedience, answered His call. Exciting because the things set in motion many years before are coming together in a miraculous ways and we have the privileged of seeing it. Exciting because revival is coming and has come and we are privileged to see the beginning sparks start to ignite. We are blowing it and wont stop until we see a blazing flame of the Holy Spirits presence in our city. It is a miracle that two churches have come together. The larger joining the smaller. The smaller fuzing with the larger. There wasn't a small dwindling church starving to survive asking a bigger church to rescue them from destruction. It was a larger, well established church that is asking the younger growing church if they could join their mission, vision and values to ignite our people to change ourselves and our city. I am in awe of what God is doing and has done.

Although I try to give words to what is happening, I can't fully explain the experience of being part of His story and it is exciting to see the ending and beginning all at the same time. We are a church that is changing this city and we are a people of God that are listening to His plan to become one. We are His bride and the Groom has come to marry these churches in our day, In my day. He isn't done, but only beginning. It is beautiful and it is happening now.

Fusing of churches

Greetings from the church in Franklin, TN

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV)- I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

We are doing well here in Tennessee. The church in Franklin TN is alive and thriving in little heart beats that grow stronger every day. I know God is going to do great things in this city because we, as His people, are starting to work together as one. I am starting to see many denominational walls start to fall and there is a spirit of unity among churches.

Once the church stops the back stabbing of each other with divisive gossip and elitism we will be much more effective at looking out to helping others instead of ourselves. The church is beginning to awaken and join rhythms with God’s beating heart: Love God with all our heart, be unified as one body, serve Him, and love our neighbors. I believe when this happens God will choose to being revival to ourselves, our cities and our nations.

I am so thankful I get to be a part of God’s sovereign plan for being united in mind and thought with another church. In this spirit of unity, my church, is fusing/ marrying another large, healthy church. They like our vision, mission, and values as a church and have asked to fuse with us. Praise God for this! We can only explain this as God's sovereign hand at work and a miracle of circumstances brought together only by Him. It is a beautiful symphony that has been being prepared and written for years and now is the time when it is being played out. I am so thankful I get to be a part of this.

The fusing of churches reminds me of a biblical marriage because we technically are one church now, the contract has been signed, but the groom is preparing his household before the wedding day of September 6th. It will be a beautiful day no matter what the weather because the people of God are unifying together, the marriage feast is being prepared and all are invited to attend.

==Peace, Love and Hope as the Lords day is near and has already started,

I Am The Favorite Child

I remember my brothers and I arguing about who was my mom's favorite. Of course, I am still her favorite and always have been.

In the book of John, The author, John,  talks about himself in the third person as "the disciple whom Jesus loved." I use to think he was a bit to full of himself and was a bit bold in saying this, but I don't anymore. He knew his Father was crazy in love with him and that he was loved by someone who thought of him as his favorite child. He knew he was God's favorite because, just as all my children are my favorite, John is God's favorite and so much more.

The reality is we are all God's favorite child, His princes and princesses. He loves us so crazy much and He wants us to know that he loves the details which allows Him to adore us and cherish us as individuals. We are His. When we are doing what we were created to be it brings Him joy, and He still loves us. We are His, and when we are not doing what we were created to do it makes him sad, and He still loves us. He can't love you any more except when the next day starts and He does love you more.

Now that I have children I know they think they each are my favorite child and they are correct. I love each of my children and they are my favorite. I have even told them this in front of their siblings. They are all my favorite creators, but they each create in very different ways and I like to point out to them the individual things that I love about them. My oldest is my favorite creator of organization of little things (She is amazing at sorting anything especially little tiny things and making detailed scenes with them), the middle is my favorite creator of anything that involves making projects with tape, cardboard and/ or scissors (She has some amazing pictures on my wall that are so colorful and detailed in her design), and the youngest is my favorite creator of anything Lego (He is amazing in seeing what he wants to build and then making detailed creations from his mind.) I love all their creations and they are always showing me their creations. They were created to be creative and I love that about them.

There are so many other things that I love about each of them that makes them unique from their other siblings and they usually don't overlap except when I love when they get along with each other and play together. I still love them even when they don't get along and it graves me sometimes how they don't play nice.

On days when I take the time to think about my children I fall more in love with them and the details that make them different from anyone else. I LOVE MY CHILDREN and their creations. I LOVE MY CHILDREN in all the wonderful things they do that make them who they are becoming . I LOVE THEM because they are beautiful. I love them because I can pull out a book and they run from the other end of the house to listen to it. I LOVE MY CHILDREN because they are compassionate, and kind, and play nice, and say big word, and dance and sing. I even LOVE MY CHILDREN when they fight, and are irritable, and crabby, and sick, and puking, and throwing a temper tantrum, and refusing to do their chores or work. I LOVE MY CHILDREN and Love WHO THEY ARE !

I love them so much and can't imagine what my life would be like if anyone of them were not a part of my life. I am so full of love for them that sometimes I think I will burst open and valentines hearts will explode from my body like a cartoon. The Love that I have for my children has no measure and, although I can't put it all into words, I know it can't be taken away.  I can't imagine that I could love them more except when the next day starts and I do love them more.

Semantics

Growing up I was hurt by my baptist church because they added extra rules to the Bible. I said I would never attend a baptist church again. After I was married I went to a non-denominational church that was a church plant of a Baptist church, but it was not baptist. After moving to Tennessee, we went to a church that was not baptist. now we attend a church plant that is non- denominational.

I love our current church and the clear vision of the leadership and a mission we work toward as a church. We are free to execute the great commission as we see fit with the support of our church ( and within the boundaries of the Bible). The people are still learning to know each other, but there are friendships being born and we are growing together in the Word.

As I have grown older I have attended several groups that are open to people from all churches like Bible Study Fellowship, MOPS and our home school CO-OP. It has been a great experience for me to see how people from all churches are part of The Church and are in God's Family which is my family. I have been challenged by these women and saddened when I hear stories of hurt from other denominations that add rules to the Bible or flat out don't follow the Bible, but mostly I am encouraged that we are working together even within our different denominations or non- denominations to be the wonderful family we were created to be.

As I have grown older I have realized that not all Baptists churches are unhealthy and there are many unhealthy churches all over, but there are many more healthy churches that outweigh the bad. Churches that do not put down their other brothers and sisters in Christ and use the Bible as their foundation with no other rules.

Three months ago my pastor was asked to pray with the elders of another church that was going through change. He prayed with them and eventually they asked if our church would consider marrying their church. This is done with the best of intentions and both church congregations have been in prayer to see if this should happen. All of the details are precious and good. There has been great beauty in seeing our church unite in spirit and mission with another church as we are suppose to. The leadership has gone over the details and replayed scenarios on how this should take place if it were to happen. We, as two congregations, have been asking questions and and receiving truthful answers.

This marriage of churches is happening and we will still be a non- denominational church that is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention... Technically not a Baptist church and it will be my Church.

Let the Church Be One

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV)- I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Sticks and stones are soon forgotten, but words breathe fire that lasts for a millennium. For hundreds of years the church has been divided in mind and thought. The reasons for the divisions are known, and they are still dividing the church. This is just as much spiritual battle as it is a verbal battle and we need to choose to end the war and stop fanning the wrong flame.

Less often than it should the church agrees to work together. When this happens the Lord's prayer is fulfilled and His kingdom has come and His will is done on earth as is has always been in Heaven. When heaven and earth collide there is a spiritual awakening in our hearts as we unite with purpose. This is what is happening in our city. Revival has started. It began with a person, rippled out to a group and when we start to come together as The Church revival will pour out on our city. Get your umbrellas and boats ready because the time for the out pouring of the spirit is now for our generation. We need to fan the flame brought by the Holy Spirit as it laps up the cleansing water and spreads like wildfire across our neighborhoods, towns and countries.

Dear Father you are the Prince of Peace. As a church we have failed to be at peace with our brothers and sisters in the church, and have been divided. Forgive us. Help us to join together with our family, The Church, across our neighborhoods, towns and country so that your Great Name will be known to all people.

Dear Father you are the God of order. Please forgive us for not being united and orderly with our brothers in word or deed. Give us opportunities to bring us together. Let us recognize these times and to utilize them to bring unity in your family.

Dear Father you are our Protector. Please forgive us for not protecting each other in The Church. We have put our own causes and plans ahead of our family, The Church, because we are selfish. Let us be a refuge of hope to the lost in our community and come together with a plan to build up and protect each other.

You are our Hope and Shield. Please forgive us for hoping in our congregation and for lying by calling it the church. Please let us see the beauty in our differences and use them as strength. Your hope is our protection from the evil one. You have always been the only Hope we have. Let us see that as a united Church we can bring hope to our neighborhoods, community and nation by working together as one church.

God of Many names you are our sustainer and giver of life. Let us reflect this life in our neighborhoods, community and nation as we go to make disciples for your family. We declare this day that we will strive to be one, united with purpose to make your Great Name know to our generation as the God who can do all things and bring unity to your family.
